Bail Bonds

A bail bond is a contract between a bail bond company and a defendant in a criminal case. The bail bond company agrees to pay the court a certain amount of money if the defendant fails to appear for their court dates. In return, the defendant pays the bail bond company a fee, which is typically a percentage of the bail amount.

How to Post Bonds

To post a bond, you will need to contact a bail bond company. You can find a list of bail bond companies in Detroit by searching online or by asking for recommendations from friends or family.

Once you have contacted a bail bond company, you will need to provide the following information:

  • The defendant's name
  • The defendant's date of birth
  • The defendant's Social Security number
  • The charges against the defendant
  • The amount of the bail

The bail bond company will then review your information and determine if they are willing to post a bond for you. If they are willing to post a bond, you will need to sign a contract and pay the bail bond company a fee.

Once the bail bond company has posted the bond, the defendant will be released from jail. The defendant must then appear for all of their court dates. If the defendant fails to appear for a court date, the bail bond company will be required to pay the court the full amount of the bail.
